Frequently Asked Questions
Here you can find the answers to the questions we're asked most about our mobile geolocation service.
What is TraceHero?+
TraceHero is an online service that locates a mobile phone using only its number. You send the recipient an SMS asking to share their position; once they agree, their location is returned to your dashboard and shown on a map. It works remotely, with nothing to install on either phone.
Is it legal to use TraceHero to locate a phone number?+
TraceHero is built around consent. A location is only ever shared after the person holding the phone receives your SMS and explicitly agrees to share their position. Using it to locate people without a lawful reason or their agreement is not permitted, and you are responsible for using the service in line with the laws that apply where you are.
Which networks does TraceHero support?+
TraceHero works with mobile networks across Europe and the US. A successful locate still depends on the phone being switched on, having service, and the recipient consenting to share their location.
Can I locate a number if I don't know the phone model?+
Yes. TraceHero only needs the phone number. The make and model of the device do not matter, locating happens over the network once consent is given.
Does TraceHero work on both iPhone and Android?+
Yes. TraceHero is device-agnostic. As long as you have the number and the person agrees to share their position, it works whether they carry an iPhone or an Android phone.
How fast does TraceHero return a location?+
Once the recipient taps to consent, the position is usually returned within moments and appears on the map in your dashboard. The only variable is how quickly they respond to your SMS.
Can I locate a phone without physical access to it?+
Yes. That is the whole point, everything happens remotely from your side. You never need to touch the other phone; you only need its number and the recipient's consent.
